Hello weekend =) Here’s the solution to last week’s puzzle: click here. (or right-click -> save file as).
There were a number of ways to get enough P-Die, either securing or harvesting with Rage. The key step was securing Radar and shooting Bank HQ so that you could Smash across, as well as getting Beetle in front for Hazardous.
Fresh blood! This week we have a SPECIAL PUZZLE. It is designed by none other than Robert and Mark. They thought that they could outdo me in puzzlecraft (aka I ran into some unexpected busy-ness) so see what you think!

Setup: You are playing as Red (Protectors). It is your turn. You may take ONE unit activation followed by ONE monster activation (pretend that your opponent is forced to take an inconsequential unit activation).
Goal: Form kill Mogroth (been a while, no?).
The way these puzzles work is similar to the old Kaiju Conundrums from the strategy guides (RIP). No dice rolling actually occurs. Instead, you calculate a hit using the following method:
Action Die = 3
Boost Die = 4
Power Die = 5
Defense Point = 5
Your total points for the attack must match or exceed the total points of the defender. For instance, let’s take Grindix. Grindix has a Defense of 6, and so a value of 6 * 5 = 30. If I want to hit Grindix, I need to spend enough dice to match or exceed 30. So, let’s say 3 A-Die and 6 B-Die. 3 * 3 = 9, and 6 * 4 = 24. That gives our 3A 6B attack a total value of 33. This exceeds the Defense value of 30, so it counts as a hit and the dice are spent. Use this method for anything, including powering up. You need to hit a 1 to power up, so the roll has a defense of 5. 2 A-Die (6) will always be successful. 1 A-Die (3) will never be successful.
Now, while puzzles are nice on their own, why not throw in some prizes? You will have 48 hours from the time of this posting to send in a correct solution. After the 48 hours have passed, we’ll randomly select one of the correct answers and award its author a prize. Also, everyone who correctly solves the puzzle in 48 hours will have their name forever etched in this post!
Send your solution to team@covenanttcg.com as either a step-by-step e-mail or a vassal saved game. A vassal file of the puzzle can be downloaded here. (updated)
Cheers and good luck!

Just so you’re aware, since I’m neither of the original players, when I open that save, I end up not being able to move anything… Might want to look into that in the future. At least make sure that one of them retires before loading it or something.
Yay! Here’s hoping I redeem myself this time.
You know Philip, you could just recreate the map by hand.
Also, I protest the lack of repair vehicle in this puzzle! How do you expect me to win without a repair vehicle?
I could Nate, but if I do that I might “accidentally” leave a few extra hazards or spires somewhere or other. Also, it’s important to know if Mogroth is currently sitting on rubble or a hazard.
In fact, I almost wonder if that’s key to this puzzle.
Just now I saw that as well and was about to retract my last statement.
Yes, what Mogroth is standing on could make a huge difference to the solution.
Yeah, you can’t move the figures, so you’ll have to recreate it. Mogroth’s on a green foundation at full health, so I think it’s safe to assume he’s on rubble.
But he is next to a spawn point and there is a meat slave in the unit pool…
It’d be lovely if you could get this fixed, cheers!
I think I got it, if we’ve all assumed correctly.
How are you guys coming with it?
I’m still perplexed by the “No Mini Photo” mini (the one right next to Mogroth) and trying to figure out what it could be…or if I’m meant to leave whatever it is untouched for the purpose of the challenge. If it’s one of mine…classy. If it’s one of his…it complicates things/makes life good for Incinerus. Tis a conundrum and I’m not sure its meant to be part of the puzzle. Then again, I’m new to these puzzle things outside of the Strategy Guides.

Yes, Mogroth is on a rubble tile. Sorry for the difficulty, will try to get an update to you ASAP.
I have a fix for this issue. I’ll try to see that the updated files it posted asap.
Thanks for your patience.
Jared, it’s a Shadow Task Master. I’m betting it’s Mogroth’s. Either that or Incinerus just couldn’t find the Repair Vehicle since Aquosia borrowed it last time.
that mini is a shadow task master
Hey guys, this is awesome started the puzzle about 1 50 when it first popped up and finally cracked it at 5 20. This was awesome, keep it coming. Plus I am glad no one at my local has a mogroth what a bitch to hit with my exphawks
Great first puzzle guys! Was it intentional that you made it a fiendish one? ;-p
Sorry, I’ll go get my coat!
Anyway, bad jokes aside I had a solution straight away and a way to execute it inside ten minutes so I’m well happy on this one. After these last three Elemental Champion puzzles I’m raring to get them onto a real map when my faction pack & Aquosia arrive!
Lots of red herrings on this one but made it. Will we get to see some factions other than elementals soon?
With Elementals you need no other factions!
Mmm yes I enjoyed this one. Really shows you the potential of Incinerus!
I thought that we learned the potential of Incinerous when he won Masters 2.0?
I do think Incinerous has more potential than Aquasia at least until we get some more EC units…
Having limited internet at home, and I wasn’t able to look at the puzzle at all on Friday. I’m stumped on this one, although I think if I had more time I’d see the solution.
Incinerus is a chump.
I was without Internet last Friday, but I managed to print this out…it’s stumped me. Every time I think I’ve got it, I’m an A dice short somewhere. This is an excellent puzzle, great job.
Hello, I was researching the web and I found your website. Keep up the excellent work.
Thanks for a great blog. I was able to get the information that I had been looking for. Thanks once again!
