Earlier today, Mike from Privateer posted a blog on MonsterInsider.net featuring all the beautiful buildings and monuments from Series 5! In the podcast, Zach discusses the structures with the privateer press developer.
First place extended his lead - Theodore Lehman. He was the only one who successfully answered last week’s quiz. You can go here to take this week’s active quiz!
If you have anything you’d specifically like us to discuss, post below! We will sneak some of your questions into our interview with Michael. If you enjoyed this podcast, you can find all of our others sprinkled across our site or you can visit our iTunes page.

Mike’s volume is really low on this. I can barely hear him. =(
Will fix tomorrow.
Let us know when it’s fixed, Steve so we know to download the new version and listen.
I could hear both of them just fine, but honestly? They both sounded dead tired – I suspect it’s been a rough few days for the both of them!
@colin – you are very right. We were both very tired. After recording the forty minute podcast the first time, somehow the last twenty five minutes got corrupted and did not work. Mike stayed at the office until 9 p.m. his time to reshoot the cast and by that time it was 11 p.m. where I was. We were both committed to getting the cast out last night (note the publish time of 1 a.m.), but were both dead tired and shooting the cast a second time. I had slept just a few hours the night before and then worked all day after driving the 14 drive home from Ohio. Regardless, I think the content is solid even if we were both about to pass out.
Oh, I’m not saying the content didn’t deliver in any way, it did. It’s just that I could almost physically feel the exhaustion seeping out of both of you guys! So on behalf of everyone that follows the podcasts, thank you VERY much for all the hard work that has gone on not only into this cast but all the rest that have preceded it! The effort doesn’t go unnoticed.
@colin – readers like you make my day honestly. I want to say thanks to Mike for hanging in there and bringing content to the community when he really didn’t have to. Here’s to a great monpoc community *raises drink*
I’m still waiting for steve to get Mike’s part upped a bit because I can’t hardly hear it.
I know it’s awesome though, because you guys are always awesome.
Seconding Colin’s motion.
Thing on the quiz:
The options are:
20 (average of 5)
24 (average of 6)
28 (average of 7)
30 (average of 7.5)
But the correct answer wouldn’t even be there for Now.
Empire had a total def of 22 (kondo 5 on both, gakura 6 on both).
Subterran had 6 & 7 on Drillcon with 6 & 6 on Grindix (total 25).
I’m curious. Do you guys KNOW what the total will be for whichever faction or how will the correct answer be determined?
If we went by NOW, Subterran correct answer would undoubtedly be #2 but Empire is right in the middle between answers #1 & 2.
As I understand, Mike is the one providing the questions. I’m just the guy who puts them in the system, so I can’t swear to the source. As to the answers… you’ll just have to make your guess and see what the answer is on Monday.
It’s the total for Big in Japan monsters from whichever faction is previewed.
lol I know that Zach. What I’m curious is do you know for certain that the answer will be one of those numbers? (maybe it was in the podcast, like I said, having trouble hearing) Hmm…. I’m starting to see how you’re so high up on the ladderboards.
(nah, j/k)
It’s ok, Nate. I’m gonna start changing his answers when he’s not looking.
Awesome buildings all around. Love the stats and the abilities. Amplify and Unstable on is going to make my adorable PE forces very, VERY happy. As will Synchro-move Brawl. *cackles maniacly*
Overall I’m glad to see that there are cons to taking the new buildings. After the Vice Pincer I was a little worried some of the buildings would be phase-outs for older buildings. I’m very happy to be proven wrong. ^_^ My city will have more variety than ever.
So two more faction previews and the character unit previews gives us three more weeks and then the series will be in stores…is Big In Japan coming out late March?
Series 5 comes out in early April.
In evading Zach’s questions about megas, Mike has hinted that there will be a week dedicated to them. That might be enough to extend the series until early April. Expect the blog to explode with questions that day as we all try to get in our personal favorite monster(s)
Hmmm…favourite monster so far is actually a coin toss between Dynastavus and Lobstoc. I also really like Mecha Cthugrosh and Robo Kondo. Although anticipation about the 2-3 headed mole monster is driving me bonkers. Ooooh but this series is too good in some ways. @_@
Personally looking forward to the podcast that will focus on those megas actually. I’m hoping that they plan to carry on the tradition started with series 2 of issuing all of the mega figures in their own boxed set. Oddly enough, with the exception of the Subterran faction (which uniformly leaves me completely cold) I would be more then happy to pick up a boxed set of all of the other factions’ megas. Series 5 has me chomping at the bit to try out just about all of the new upcoming monsters, something I didn’t expect to have happen. In comparison, with series 2 I would have only picked up megas for Nova ESR and Laser Knight, possibly one for Rakadon as well. So, if I get to buy all of the megas for the new monsters in one shot, yeah, you can certainly count me in as one happy customer
Bah. Ignore me. I just noticed that Laser Knight only was offered in the monster set, not Nova ESR as well, it was one of the SSS monsters instead.
I’m happy that I was the only one to get my question answered… even if you did utterly butcher the pronunciation, Zach.
I want to hear mike. My speakers suck so I cant hear anything!
