Most of us knew they were coming… but the Subterrans are finally here! Currently all the images are broken due to bandwidth issues, but hopefully we’ll get to see the moles soon. Pictures are now working on the blog! Man do those moles look nasty!
Hammerlak-Korssivik is the first monster we’re shown from the Subterran Uprising in Big in Japan. With Burrow, Sprint, Sidestep, and Super Stomp, it looks like the Hammer will be a fairly mobile city-smashing machine. Maybe even enough to give Kondo a run for his money.
Blastik-Rukivall is the second monster. Now, before you go any further let me say this. Blitz on a Blast attack with Demolish is just scary! I’m not sure what else we’ll be seeing on the two-headed terror, but I can already predict that it’ll be very hard to hide from him.
Grinder Tanks will be rolling in alongside these monsters with 4 defense and Marker. If you’ve ever had bad luck blasting with Cthul or Subterrans, this may just be an answer to your pleas.
Oppressors are the final preview for Subterrans with Burrow and Abduct. Of course, we’ve all seen abduct before on the Martian Menace’s Saucers, but perhaps these Oppressors can bring some new style to the action.
As usual, post your questions for Mike below and we’ll do what we can to get them answered. If you’ve already decided that you need to get your hands on these figures (and who would blame you?) head on over to the store and get your pre-order in today!

I be liking those tanks. ^_^
Will the elite have Red Marker?
Wait….Privateer Press uses Photobucket? Seriously? I didn’t think real companies used stuff like that.
Can’t wait to see PP upgrade their account to a Pro Photobucket account. It’s killing me not seeing Blastik. I’m curious to see how Hammertime is mechanically, as the Super Stomping Brawler descriptor strikes me as the reason I really dig Grindix, no pun intended. But a Grindix with Sprint and Sidestep? Interesting….can’t wait to find out more.

I’m guessing it’s only Mike who uses it for his blog. That would be shocking if it were universally used by Privateer.
Oh I’m sure…was mostly joking. I just always figured the blog was more a legit PP thing than anything else. Hell, I can’t knock it too much…I use photobucket for all my forum postings as it is.
An obvious question – what constitutes “best brawling grunts” for a faction that already has stupendous brawling units?
No joke… Brutes already were sick.
I suspect that “brawling grunts” means that they won’t get up above Elite Brutes, what with Champion, but I’m really, really curious.
My bet would be that the grunts have Brawl 2*1
Yes, I too am curious how these guys beat the brutes which are just the best brawling units of all time. (would that Carnidons were them the first time around)
If next week they tell us that the brawling ape unit has red Gang, I’ll squeak aloud. My Carnidons will have their day on a map other than Killer Canals, I swear it!
Jeff: You know, when I was playing against one of my opponents on the weekend, if only she’d brought Carnidons then she’d have cleaned my clock…sooner.
Maou_Mint: The Carnidon is dead! Long live the Carnidon!
Oh, and images:

Pictures are up and man does that two headed beat look sick!
Does Phillip know something we don’t? I got from the article that Blitz was in alpha and Demolish was in Ultra. If it keeps Blitz in Ultra that would be awesome. ^_^
I don’t know if it would be awesome or ridiculous good.
Ridiculously good until a building with cloak comes out, awesome after that. ^_^
Cheap as all hell if he (they?) also has Atomize in either form.
You can cloak a sun industries building with a shadow gate. Cloak works on allied figures so when the UCI gets an installation they can do the same with the shadow gate. That might help to reduce some of the effectiveness of the attack.
Well Gakura already has that in brawl form. With the big ape possessing jump, if the 2-headed mole remains ground bound that will balance out things a lot and make him about equal to Gakura.
(which strikes me as funny because mega gakura is already the brawl version of mega armodax – why not make him a brawl version of another ranged monster)
I think it’s a pretty safe bet that Blast-Stick has Burrow… though I could be wrong. Even if he’s pedestrian though, long range blitz blasts sound nasty.
I know less than everyone else probably… I wrote that right after I saw the post and have since been at the dentist or in meetings all day. Your interpretation is probably correct, sir.
I just realized what you were referring to… I misread the flavor text in my rush to get this posted. It looks like Blitz and Demolish are on separate forms.
Oh, I forgot the most important question of all – How does Blastik-Rukival eat if one of his hands is a zap cannon and the other a chainsaw? Is he just the Subterran with the worst table manners?
My guess is that these mole monsters “eat” trogh having digestable and nutriotious substances poured from a tube into their stomach. They’d never know what thay’d be getting however, as the mole men cruelly cut off their tounges and have no voice to express themselves.
Given that Hammerlak-Korssivik is part-ways in the ground, will he have Steady in any form?
Oh, and does Blastik-Rukivall have red Shelter given the fluffy part about the tanks hiding in his shadow?
Also does Blastik-Rukivall have Decoy? ^_^
Or perhaps I should be asking, do the tanks have decoy? Cus that would be neat.
Hmmm…the artwork calls it an anti-air gattling cannons on the tank, so I guess how accurate to abilities is that?
And another question, does the Buzzsaw mean that Blastik-Rukivall will also have lightning attack or some other two-damage Brawl option?
AHHH! The molemen are coming! I love it. I’m super excited about today podcast happening. Today is going to be an amazing day.
Questions! Questions! Questions!
Actually, I don’t have that many questions this time around, but I really would like to know more about the Hammer and the two-headed monster’s abilities.
What does make the Hammer different from Grindix, besides Sprint and Sidestep, and does that chainsaw do anything special on the two-headed mole monster?
Those are both recaps, but I’d like them answered too.
On another note,
What defs are these guys sporting here?
And, once again, I’d like it if Mike could talk about the reason for PP’s seeming decision to lean towards lower-def monsters in the newer sets. Why did that come about? Was it due to balance out super-cool new ability combos? Or was it to purposely turn the competitive field on it’s head? Or was there another reason entirely?
I’d really like to get an answer to this sometime, but whatever the case, Zach and Mike, thanks again in advance for the podcast!
Re-dic-u-lous. Blitz on Blast with Long Range? Better plan on it having seven range because you know the Elite Spitters will be ALL over the place ahead of this, well, monster of a monster. Went back again to read it and at least Blitz and demolish are on different forms.
I agree with the others, Subterrans needed a better brawler?
I’d like to know if any of these monster have summon. One can only hope, because I am very jealous of Mucusto.
Also it seems to me that Hammerlak is just a fast version of Grindix. Anybody else think that?
new stuff looks sick
need to ask though
will the oppressors have just abduct, or are they the towing unit we want?
cause abduct is a little bit you know…
meh
Hammerix looks just plain godly. I really like his movement style of flexible earth grindeer and the addition of anothe earthquake machine. My only problem is, will this guy have a blast attack? Blastix the frankenmole also looks incredible. I like the fact that he will be blast oriented and will level the playing map. The drill tank I saw coming from a long ways away, and it will probaly do good by me, but the mollok oppresar will have to show both stat line and all of it’s abillities to visit my army. At least the design is good.
