You read it right! In this podcast, you’ll hear from hosts Zach, Steven, Tim, and Robert. Discussion includes the all the new Ape goodness (and yes Bren, Zach does give his opinion), Steven’s tough decision between Mega Aquosia and Ultra Aquosia, MonCon, Gakura (the best ape?!??), and a new addition to the Team Covenant website!
If you enjoyed this podcast, you can find all of our others sprinkled across our site or you can visit our iTunes. If you’d like us to discuss anything specific next week, post below! We look forward to hearing from you.

A whole new wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorld…
(don’t you dare close your eyes.)
Jump is better than flight imo.
Seriously, groundbound units are meaningless now with Lift in the game.
Agreed. This was mentioned briefly by (I think) Steven, but everyone who’s upset about Frontline Apes not being able to brawl flyers… SPLASH AN AIR KAMI. Seriously, even out of faction, you’re looking at around 3 dice to help that big brawling ape smack some flyers around. Unless, of course, you’re securing the Privateer building or something like that.
All in favor, say “aye.” There are a bunch of us arguing this point over on the official boards – there are ways around being groundbound for the instances in which you want to hit a flying monster with Frontline Apes. Even if you don’t splash the Air Kami, as gets pointed out in this podcast, the vast majority of monsters don’t fly anyway. And with the exception of Sky Sentinel, even fewer of the “monsters-to-beat” fly. These little (big?) apes alone make me very glad I ordered my faction pack.
I hope the people whining about the Frontline’s lack of ground to air combat potential look at the other side of the coin. If every unit had the ability to attack flying figures…then the benefits of having flight are severally diminished.
I already have a nickname for my Air Kamis: Aang. And I’m going to run one with Terra Khan and a bunch of Carnidons, just cause.
Aang the last air kami, I like it. Looks like more kami’s might be splashed in a lot of decks.
Just made my first wiki edit. Woohoo!
Nice! What did you edit?
I created the Mechathugrosh page and added the abilities I could glean from the blog post and interview. I didn’t add Tow and Restoration to the Ultra because, while I’m pretty certain they’re on there, Mike only specifically noted Motivator as being present on both forms.
Going to think about revising some of the other pages – I see that at least Shadow Sun is all Defender X right now. Might be more useful to get pages right before starting on the new ones.
I like where your head is on this.
OK, a very serious wiki question: I was about to create a Carnidon page, and I noticed that there’s no Carnidon image available right now. What’s the legality of downloading and then uploading the official image from the main Monsterpocalypse gallery?
You can do it. Totally legal.
Yes, quite legal. Make it happen!
Team Covenant should battle each other and the winner gets to play at MonCon.
That’s my 2 cents
That was my suggestion… having a pre-MonCon mini-tournament with the top 3 or 4 of us playing in the Masters while the rest get stuck hanging out with people, watching movies, playing other games, etc… I can’t decide if I want to throw my matches or not.
You can’t really ‘lose’. We’ll see. I’m sure next weekend when we have monster weekend we will figure something out.
Added a page for Hammerlak. HA HA HA
That was you? Make an account mister!
Ditto with what he said.
My complaint about Frontline Ape isn’t the lack of jump/etc… It’s that it totally makes Carnidon obsolete. The only reason to play Carnidon now is that it can be Nested out with Brontox. I don’t know about you, but I like the Terrasaurs more than Apes, and would much rather have Carnidons instead of Frontline Apes, at least for appearance on the map.
Hey I was both mentioned in the Article and the Podcast! (Man I sound demanding!)
Anyway after giving Frontline ape some thought I think he will be a great addition to my force as a late game backup if my opponent gets to near my spawning area. Also with command ape one of them can move up to 12. And does anyone know whether gang stacks if you have multiple units with gang, because that would become ridiculous, an elite with a grunt with berserk with be throwing 8 b-dice.
After hearing you guys talk a bit about White D I’m a little more optimistic about him and don’t have the initial downer reaction that I think a lot of people had.
Zach you should play Gakura if your going to participate in that tourney thing or whatever…moncon? I’ve seen you do well with Kondo and you keep praising Gakura but I’ve yet to see you play him.
You know Bren, all of us just seem to have issues with playing monsters that we honestly think are top tier 1. To be truthful, when I first tried Kondo it was somewhat of a joke. I thought he was terrible at the time and wanted to open my mind up. Turns out he is good and I would now place him somewhere in the top tier. It’s this focus on using underused monsters that seems to push us to the next level.
That being said, I have and always will love fielding Gakura. I’m sure at some point you’ll see me fielding him at a major event. I don’t know how it happened, but I’m just grown to like Kondo so much! As always, I’ll be pushing the limits with odd choices of monsters to see if I can make something happen…
Zach
Well I guess you could play Rakadon if you weren’t looking for top tier
Gang DOES stack. And you WOULD be throwing 8 B-Die. I think I mentioned that in the cast.
So good.
Let’s not mix up our wording here. Gang (like all abilities) doesn’t stack. However, since Gang targets the figure that would get the Boost Die, each figure having it still benefits the attack.
The basic concept still applies. They both get the benefits of it. If it were red, it would not stack. But it’s not so we don’t have to go there.
If you make top 8 at Adepticon you’ll need three different lists in the same Agenda. Two monkeys and a lizard anyone?
What’s the URL for this Monsterpocalypse Wiki?
D’oh! Nevermind. Found it
Why wouldn’t Gang stack if it were red? That would mean the FApes could share the B dice goodness with Raptices, Stealth Apes, etc.
It would give to others, but it wouldn’t ’stack’. As in… if I had an elite and a grunt next to each other and they both had red gang. They would only benefit from gang ONCE, as opposed to it stacking and them getting ‘double’ gang.
What Zach said. We’re just getting picky about the words being used.
Gang targets the figure that has it (I’m fairly sure… no one’s created that wiki page yet!) so it works for every figure, but as with everything else, if one figure somehow got two instances of Gang it wouldn’t matter.
Did somebody say “wiki”? WIKI!
Listen to Robert, being a bitch! “this will be soo dry” lol
Can someone show me how to make a Wiki Page? I tried (unsucessfully) to make a page on the Mollok Berserker, and ended up failing epicly. Someone please enlighten me, or at least delete the page. +(
to make a page, first check to see if a page exists … if not it’s as simple as searching “Mollok Berserker” in the wiki search bar, when no result comes up there is a link to create the page.
There are links to templates on the left of the main page to make creating articles fast and easy.
Templates are there to make any additions to the wiki easy and homogeneous. Just cut, paste, and preview your changes and it’s really quite simple… even I can do it.
Use the templates. Please!
Amen to that.
We did all the hard work for all of our potential editors already by making these templates. Trust me, use them once and you’ll never go back.
