January 29 – February 4th will be covered in this next year of the gamer post. What good games should you be aware of? Read on my friend.
Jan 29: Netrunner (CCG). Richard Garfield, the genius behind Magic the Gathering, lists this as his favorite designed game of all time. Here’s proof of how good it is. It went out of print after 1 expansion but is still super expensive. The man himself said he hopes it get’s released in the DBG format someday. How sweet would that be?

Jan 30: The Spoils (CCG). MY VOTE FOR GAME OF THE WEEK. This game deserves to be bigger than Magic. There I said it, and it’s true. Better rules (no such thing as mana drought!), and cooler art, (but not for the faint of heart!). The Spoils died once but was brought back by Arcane Tinmen. If you are a CCG fan, you owe it to yourself to check it out… http://www.thespoils.com/spoils/view.php?pg=home.

Jan 31: Fallout 3 (Video Game).  The world sucks in this video games’ future. Man has destroyed himself and everyone lives in a nuclear wasteland. You have been underground in a vault though. And now you’re out. Time to make your way in the world. Bethesda did another good job. Similar in some ways to Elder Scrolls, instead of using skills to improve them, you have points to spend every level to raise them. Extreme in every level, and definitely not for kids!

Hey we made it! Month # 2 begins now…..

Feb 1: Legend of the Burning Sands (CCG). Considered by many to be one of the top CCGs ever created. From a weird release schedule to an early mistake of an overpowered faction, this Arabian Nights game had a rough time and ultimately failed. It’s too bad though because the games rules are dead on for an amazing CCG.

Feb 2: 24 TCG. Based off the hit Fox TV show. Players play either as CTU or terrorists. The terrorists have a goal and the counter terrorists must stop it. Fun, fast paced, and died really fast. The game I mean. Oh well.

Feb 3: X-Men The Trading Card Game. Just because I put a game on here doesn’t mean I recommend it. This game was kind of lame. From the inferior art to the lack of strategy, this was a stinker. Still I put it on here because of this being the year of the gamer we have to celebrate the games that make us glad there are better games. Right?

Feb 4: Masterpiece (Board Game). Originally created in 1970 Parker Brothers released this fun game. In it, you play a rich art connoisseur buying art. Every piece of art has the potential to make you money. Or loose if it’s worth less than what you pay. The game is fun, but more luck based than skill. Landing on the right spots on the board and bidding low when other players are running low on cash. Still a fun game but has been out of print since 1996.
