About Us
Ah, Team Covenant. When I was approached about writing the “About Us” for this site, I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough. This site is my baby (though technically, it was birthed by others, and then adopted by me, so I suppose it’s like my foster baby). I’ve invested so much time into it! Time that I am happy to invest, but time nonetheless. All the code that I’ve stared at, all the cursing that I’ve done, all the 12 hour day…but look at it. I think it paid off!
But enough about my love affair, let’s get on to the important stuff.
This site was started way back about a year ago, and man, it has really come a long way. The very first Team Covenant site was an old Freewebs bit, which you can still view. Actually, let’s go ahead and do that.

Wow that’s a lot of memories that just came flooding in. That old thing was quite the resource for Spoils. All of the content is still there. It feels like I’m looking at a ghost! I notice that the headline says “new site is here” and, the sad part is, the “new site” in that headline is actually not this site. It was the site before this one, and, though it was a step up, it was still pretty dreadfully ugly.
I feel like I’m rambling though. I haven’t actually told you anything “about us”. So here goes:
First, the real story can be gained by visiting the “About Us” on the Covenant TCG page, that’s the real rundown. What I’m in charge of here is a much smaller division of the larger picture, the Team Covenant idea itself.
Team Covenant really started back when we had invested in Spoils, had actually turned a small profit (by the grace of God), and decided to invest that profit back into the community as a way of saying “thanks” to the players. We began compiling articles that we wrote about the game, and we even began PAYING players to write solid articles for the site. After a month or two we really had things rolling, and the content was great. It was a beautiful thing.
Players were talking about us on the forums. We were providing new articles about 3 times a week. We passed out shirts at GenCon. I’m talking a BEAUTIFUL thing.
And then the Spoils died.
But, luckily, before it did, we had made the decision to pick up a few other games. So we began with Saga, and are now about to initiate the launch sequence on Dragonball CCG. It is our hope that we can do with these games what we did with The Spoils, which is to become a valuable resource for players of the games that we cover.
Again, I still feel like I have not covered the “About Us”. I guess if you really want to know about us, look in the mirror. We’re just a few players of a few games who really, really like gaming. We love strategy and mechanics. We love staying up until 5 AM testing decks the night before a tournament. And, really, we enjoy being successful at what we play.
So that is “us”. That is who we are. We’re players who want to help out players who are just like us – players that cannot get enough strategy and discussion about their favorite games. We hope that you’ll enjoy the constant flow of content that will be flooding the site in the coming months, and we hope that you’ll support all of our efforts.
Remember, it’s all about you. Team Covenant is here for you. So, make it yours, and let us know what we can do to better accommodate your desires (no robe and wizard hat, please).
Sincerely,
All of us at Team Covenant
