TC: Need help filling out a Brath list….

So I’m looking for thoughts with a Brath list that I’ll be bringing to a larger tourney this weekend. The goal of the overall list is to bring a list that is a Falcon counter as they are likely to be very heavily played. Phantoms have not been seen in the local area and the top players aren’t playing them for various reasons, so I’m not building a list to worry about that.

Each of the following lists start with Brath+Out+HCL. I’m fine with him being tweaked a bit, but I like the combination of these two on him to start considering the purpose of the list and also the likelihood of 3PO.

Here are the buddies I’ve thought about bringing with him, most of which have seen the table a couple of times
each at least:

3 ship build:
Delta with HCL

I’ve gotten two games in with this list and it ripped up a 3 ship rebel list and then took down a Han list shortly after despite Backstabber going down early. A 2 hull delta and nearly full Brath faced down a full Han and got me the win by the end.

Mini Swarms:
*Backstabber, 3x Academies
*Academy, Saber w/Out, Black Sq w/Pred

I’ve had success with the mini swarm in a small 12 player tourney, making the top table with Mithel w/VI, Backstabber and an Alpha along with Brath but dropped to a two falcon build quickly as he was taking down a TIE a round (and it didn’t help that I couldn’t land any hits, but I’m not sure it would have mattered). The list had destroyed 3/3 falcons before that last game. Side note: I like Mithel and can play him well , but his lack of long range punch in a falcon meta really hurt, which is why my other mini-swarms have pulled him in favor of points elsewhere (Iike a BSP with Pred, who I think will be useful against Z-95s and put out more consistent damage).

As you can see, I don’t build lists that need to fly together.

Any thoughts or tweaks or different combinations of a small swarm you’d put together? Thanks in advance!

  1. I have flown:

Rexler + HLC + Outmaneuver + Engine Upgrade
    AP x4

Against a Han and 2 Bwing list before and it melted face. Han died the 2nd round and got blocked by the APs. Then it was just clean-up with the Bwings. I think Tie Defenders + Miniswarm is a strong list. I think I actually like Predator instead of Outmaneuver on Rexler. It acts as a mini target lock, giving you a better chance of scoring more hits so that you can use Rexler’s focus to activate his ability. Outmaneuver is a bad choice though. Here are other list options:

    Rexler + HLC + Outmaneuver
    AP (x3)

    Rexler + HLC + Outmaneuver
    Colonel Jendon + Weapons Engineer + ST-321

    Rexler + HLC + Outmaneuver + Engine
    OGP + AdvS (x2)

    Rexler + HLC + Outmaneuver + Engine
    Saber + PTL (x2)
(OR you could put targeting computers on Sabers instead of Engine on Rexler)

If you’re willing to change Rexler to Vessery, an option might be:

Vessery + HLC + Predator (Or Outmaneuver)
    AP + Targeting Computer (x3)

    Vessery + HLC + Predator
Sigma Squadron Pilot + FCS (x2)

      1. Yeah, figured that’s what you had meant, so no worries. I agree that Brath would be better with Predator as a general rule, but in a meta that features FalCons (and 3PO) Outmaneuver has been really useful for me.

Interesting lists and the. BS+3 Academies is another list I considered. Definitely a decent list and what I’m playing around with is whether or not cutting a ship is worthwhile to get one less ship but better ones overall.

I’m not a huge fan of Vessery over Brath right now.

  2. Maybe a simple list like this – though it’s a lot of points into just three ships. Maybe Hull or Stealth on Brath instead of EU if you think you’d rather get in the think more instead of trying to plink away from range 2/3 (and grab initiative). Probably an obvious list. Could also try Night Beast with TC and save a couple points to redistribute. Three independent fighters should make for some certain flanks and 6 o’clocks

    30 points
    Soontir Fel
    Push the Limit

    51 points!!!!
    Rexler Brath
Heavy Laser Cannon, Predator, Engine Upgrade

    19 points
    Stealth Device

    1. I’ve got a very similar list that features Jax instead of Fel, mostly because he’s my favorite interceptor and I really like his utility. But Fel would be an interesting option there.

  3. Did you see the FAQ that states that all rolled crits by Brath are resolved BEFORE his ability? That’s killer if it ever triggers a catastrophic chain reaction such as any cards which resolve immediately and flip over. You can have minor explosion go off in a chain reaction of doom!

Doubt Ill ever see it – but that’d be hilarious in a tourney – or in EPIC have some huge ship annihilated by his ability…

    1. Yes, it would be awesome if it happened! However, so far in about 8 games with Brath, I’ve only triggered his ability once, and to be honest, it was a poor mathematical calculation by me..I’ll be using him this weekend I think, but I will be evaluating things closely.

  4. I’ve flown two Brath lists that I’ve really enjoyed:

    LIST #1
    – Rexler Brath (Predator)
    – Darth Vader (Engine Upgrade, Outmaneuver)
    – Academy Pilot x2

    LIST #2:
    – Rexler Brath (Predator)
    – Howlrunner (Swarm Tactics)
    – Black Squadron Pilot (Draw Their Fire)
    – Obsidian Squadron Pilot
    – Acadmemy Pilot

Both were a ton of fun to fly but I think I prefer list #2. The first list with Vader is a lot more tricksy where you’re using the APs essentially as pylons to block actions while Brath and Vader twirl around and take out targets of priority. It’s a fun list to fly but it seems to win more by the skin of its teeth.

Rexler with the Howlrunner mini-swarm felt like a more solid list to me. Flown in formation, the mini-swarm acts a lot like a large-base ship but with more flexibility in terms of target selection.
