GenCon Exclusive: Sneak Peak at Quantum King Kondo!
By Team Covenant– August 14, 2009
Hiding in one of the Warmachine displays was this brand new, beautiful miniature from the upcoming expansion, Monsterpocalypse Now! New abilities, and a new hyper form. Does it get any better? We’ve got shots of all of the preview miniatures coming soon! Stay tuned!

Just throwing it out there, those are Warmachine models I think… not Warhammer…
Nice, guys!
My only complaint is that the quality makes it hard to see the figure in any detail. Some nice pictures would be amazing.
Am I the only one for whom the audio goes out just after the words “Now I’m gonna go out on a limb?” I’d love to hear conjectures as to what a red speed stat signifies.
JeFF, stereo sound ought to fix it for you. All the sound drifts off to my right speaker right after that. In case it still doesn’t work.
“… on a limb and say that these red numbers are possibly stuff that’s still under testing conditions. They haven’t finalized it yet, because he does have a 2 for a hyper cost, which is exteremely low for a hyper cost for any monster. And it’s also red. And he has a red boost die number on his power attack. Which, if that indicates a power die added to his power attack, that doesn’t make any sense. But possibly it represents a condition that’s not concrete yet. I mean, his speed right now is seven, but he has no flight or jump abilities, so that could be interesting to find out.”
We’ll fix it if we have time. It was exported in stereo but didn’t record in both channels all the time.
The quality is fixed =)
Thanks Phil!
Thanks to both Philip and TC.
No problem. Thanks for upping the quality!
So, from what I can make out in the video, QKC’s stats are:
Spd 7 (red)
Def 6
Brawl ?
Blast None
Power 7 (Red star, maybe a 2 or 3 next to it?)
Health 6
Abilties
Sprint
Brawl Hit & Run
Blue Berzerk
Blue Unknown (possibly speed ability)
Super Rampage
Hourglass ability
Hyper Cost 2
====================================================
Mega Zor-Magna also has a hyper cost of 2, so it’s not without precedent. Depending on how the Alpha KC looks, Quantum may not be all that different. The coloring, however, is beautiful.
The value next to the star on power is a 2 (based on ForceVoid’s pictures linked here)
Based on that same picture, it looks like the Brawl stat is probably a 7, but I’m guessing.
Also, the blue unknown ability looks like a shockwave. I could speculate all day on the new abilities, but hopefully we’ll get something solid soon. If not from TC at GenCon, then hopefully from PP shortly afterwards.
Also, are there any theories on why the Speed and Hyper cost are red? I’m inclined to agree with the video in that they’re likely just test values, but part of me wonders why they’d bother printing it like that for a display case.
Surely we’re not looking at adjacent speeds or costs. Perhaps it’s somehow related to his two new abilities? Who knows.
Well, if they *were* values granted to adjacent figures, that wouldn’t be so bad… Speed 7 isn’t unthinkable even if it was granted to units, and the 2 hyper cost would only apply in multi-monster games, and then only to an adjacent monster. That becomes an awful lot of hoops to jump through just to save a few power dice.
Of course, the level of abusability is going to be largely determined by the other monsters and units available to that Faction.
The red hyper cost is really what leads me to agree with the video. That and the red boost on power attacks would only be relevant to multi-monster games, like you said, Andrew.
I’m wondering if there might be some condition(s) that would apply to figure stats. Such as an effect that only applies to red speed stats or red hyper costs. The potential theories are endless. We’ll just have to wait until we get something more concrete to go on.
i was just wondering who that short guy is on the right?
Is he one of the TC admins?
No idea, but there’s an obvious Napoleon Complex at work there. I totally lol’ed when his theorycrafting fell impeccably flat too. That’s gotta be the penultimate long shot of a guess I’ve heard all year.
“Fell impeccably flat”? Really? Where was that debunked? Seriously, do you -need- to be this rude, or are you just grumpy today?
Also: penultimate means ‘next to last’, if we want to be snarky.
Wow, the amount of inside jokes aimed in my direction is staggering. At any rate, now I know who Capt. Awesome is. And no, he’s not being snarky; he’s just being mischevious
Captain Awesome… AWAY!!!
Well, Ken, if you’re good with it, I’m good with it.
