MonCon Update: Thursday Schedule
By Steven– February 11, 2011
This year’s MonCon is shaping up to be something of a ridiculously good time. Many faces from last year have already registered and a lot of new faces have done the same. Seeing this community come together more and more every day is incredible, and I cannot wait for MonCon to get here – literally cannot wait. Among all of us at TC, the excitement is building, and the same is true for the community at large.
So, I thought I’d help to fuel that excitement by providing a little update. We’ll be keeping everyone updated as much as we can in the coming weeks and months. There’s still a few details that are being worked out, such as the hotel (we’re trying to get the best possible deal for everyone), but it will all solidify very soon and the guesswork will be over. We know everyone is looking to book their rooms early, so we’ll get you that information as soon as we know it.
In the meantime, here’s something to ponder – Thursday’s schedule.
3 PM – Cowboys and Indians ( 2 Rounds )
5 PM – Dinner
7 PM – Cowboys and Indians ( 1 – 2 Rounds )
8 PM – Burning Monpoc
Yes, Cowboys and Indians is back in full force! The format was a huge success last MonCon, and this time it will get our full attention. All night is dedicated to all of the city-smashing and city-protecting action that we can handle. For those who need team mates, members of TC and the community will jump in. Long story short, you’re going to want to be there. The format is a blast.
You’ll also notice that Burning Monpoc will be going on. This is a new addition to the MonCon lineup, and it will be a beautiful fusion of The Burning Wheel RPG and Monsterpocalypse. I’ll be running the game, and will be taking on 3-6 players who would like to join in for some role-playing fun. Right now I’m thinking everyone will be members of either the Shadow Sun Syndicate or the Green Fury and will encounter a few memorable giant monsters as they carry out their more micro-level missions. It’s sure to be a good time with lots of excitement, drama, and laughs. So if you’re so inclined, pull up a chair and get in on it.
Thursday is going to be a relaxing day where everyone capable of coming early can enjoy some Monsterpocalypse and catch up with old and new friends. If you can make it early, it’s going to be a nice way to ease into the more competitive days to come. Though, as always, MonCon is as competitive as you want it to be. As anyone from last year will tell you, MonCon is great not because of the competition, but the community – the dinners together, the Monpoc jokes, and the sharing of stories.
If you still haven’t registered, you can go to our MonCon page to get on it! Remember, if you register before March, you’re guaranteed the MonCon exclusive – and you don’t want to miss it! This page also houses important updates as we move into the future, so check it often.
Also, we have a new Monsterpocalypse-specific twitter that everyone involved in Monpoc should follow! It will keep you up to date on all of the latest Monsterpocalypse news, as well as all Monpoc-related TC fun.
That’s all I’ve got for now. I can’t wait to see everyone at MonCon 2011. We’ve got big, big things planned.
Cheers,
Steven

Burning MonPoc. That sounds very cool.
Just so’s you don’t have anyone get confused and show up for the Monpoc Burning.
Mmmmm, two hour dinner.
Benjamin and I should arrive in time to catch some of the end of Burning MonPoc, as long as someone remembers to come pick us up from the airport…
There will be someone to pick you up.
Why not GUARD in that Burning MonPoc? And don’t say too boring, because Shadow Sun is up there lol
You have to be Nova ESR…
I think we’re supposed to be humans lol, not roleplaying the monsters, though a British Rakadon would be amazing.
Though I guess Nova does need a pilot lol
No, everyone else plays people, but you have to be Nova ESR.
I think the CEO of UberCorp would be a brilliant NPC.
“It looks like you have a monster problem. I think we can come to a mutual… understanding, yes?”
Yeah GUARD is possible too. But…the shadiness of Shadow Sun would make for a more interesting mission.
Same with Green Fury, but not because of the shadiness, but the insanity.
Where can I get more info on these game variants (i.e. Cowboys and Indians)
We will be posting a video in the next week or so that explains cowboys and indians. Hold tight!
The basic idea is that one player is trying to kill the enemy monster, while the other player is trying to raze the entire city.
