The Covenant Maps Campaign
By Steven– May 25, 2011
At MonCon 2011, we unveiled what is easily our most ambitious project to date. Players took home their exclusive map, complete with newly designed elements and configurations of an exceptionally high quality. We certainly didn’t take any shortcuts when putting together our first map – Mayhem on Memorial – and, like our first, you can be assured that every map to follow will be held to the TC standards that you’ve come to expect. With that in mind, I’d like to officially invite everyone to join and participate in our Covenant Maps campaign. And if my mere suggestion isn’t convincing enough, here’s just a few of the reasons why this program is worth your investment!
A Brand New Map Every Sixty Days
The campaign aspect of these maps is sure to be fantastic, but it’s not for everyone. That’s why it’s important to not lose sight of the greatest boon that the Covenant Maps release brings – you’re getting a new map every two months. Once you subscribe, you don’t have to worry about anything else. The map will magically show up at your door, full of new strategies, new tactical opportunities, and new features that might completely change the effectiveness of certain monsters, units, and buildings. Think about how differently one monster might play on any given map. Xaxor on Killer Canals is much different than Xaxor on Highway to Hellevue. With each Covenant Map, you get that injection of new life, of discovery, directly into your Monsterpocalypse experience. It keeps you and your playgroup full of energy and excitement, making the game more fun for everyone involved.
An Ongoing Campaign Written By The Players
In addition to igniting standard Monsterpocalypse play, each Covenant Map comes with a printed story that acts as the next chapter of a continuous, fictional campaign revolving around the struggles of all of the monsters and factions involved in the game. These stories are epic, and relate directly to the happenings on the past Covenant Map and how those occurrences have led to the current map.
But of course there’s even more to this! Each map not only comes with a story, but also a scenario that is the direct result of that story. This scenario will pick up where the story ends, putting the fictional conflicts onto the map itself, ready to be resolved by YOU, the players. The next chapter of the story, and the map pertaining to it, will then be created based on the results that YOU report.
As an easy example, let’s say that you get your Covenant Map in the mail and open it up to find a story about how the arrogant, highly-trained pilot of Sky Sentinel has decided that he should replace Defender X and its elite, veteran pilot as the first line of defense against GUARD’s enemies. In response to this challenge, Defender X’s pilot has determined that the best course of action is to embarrass this arrogant pilot. The scenario might then read:
Setup: The winner of the opening roll plays Sky Sentinel. The loser plays Defender X, and after building placement, may place 4 units anywhere on the map excluding spawn zones. Both forces must consist of only GUARD units.
Objective: Sky Sentinel wins if Defender X is destroyed. Defender X wins if, after 14 turns, he hasn’t lost a form and Sky Sentinel is not destroyed.
Everyone subscribed to the maps program would then report the results, either “Sky Sentinel Won” or “Defender X Won”. From there, the next chapter might be about Sky Sentinel’s crushing defeat and a new conflict, or Sky Sentinel’s takeover of GUARD HQ, with conflicts revolving around that change. The story will also change depending on how close the results are. If it’s 52 to 50 in Defender X’s favor, the story will reflect how close Sky Sentinel was to defeating Defender X, and the plot will adapt to that.
You get the map, story, and scenario, and your results determine where we go next. Get ready to create one of the most epic stories ever told…
…together.
“We Know Some of You Are In College” Pricing
These maps are exceptional, and I have to admit the highest quality product that we’ve ever released. But we’ve made sure to offer something that everyone can afford. We want everyone to craft this story and have these maps. Everyone.
We felt the easiest way to do this was with a no-hassle subscription plan. For the most basic subscription, it’s $22.50 every two months. Once you subscribe on this level, you’ll get your maps for as long as you’d like, and everytime you do, you will be notified and automatically charged $22.50 via whatever payment method you specify. Think about what $22.50 is over two months. That’s about $11.25 a month, without having to worry about shipping cost or any other nonsense. Is it worth $11.25 a month to have a brand new, exciting map every other month and a direct effect on the Covenant Maps Campaign? That’s ultimately for you to decide, but we certainly think so.
For those who would like to save some money and sign up for more than 2 months at a time, we also have the 6-month or bi-annual option. That’s $60 for 6 months of Covenant Maps, including the ever-changing campaign. $10 a month. $10 is what, one meal at a restaurant? Burger or brand new strategies, tactics, elements, and a part in the Covenant Maps epic story. Your call.
And if you’d really like to get the best deal, you can subscribe for an entire year. If you want to do that, it’s $105 for all 12 months. That equates to $8.75 a month with absolutely no hassle. Want to show your support and faith for what we’re doing? Tell us by saying “I know you’re going to do amazing things with these maps for the next year.” I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.
Keep in mind that with all of these subscriptions, they’ll be refreshed. If you subscribe for the “every 6 months” subscription, you’ll be billed every 6 months. Likewise with the “every two months” and “every year”. If anyone is leary about this or has any problems, email me at support@teamcovenant.com and we can do whatever necessary to make Covenant Maps work for you.

I haven’t been this excited about a product in years. The scope of what we’re planning on doing with these maps and this story is astounding. You don’t want to miss it! So let us know you’re in and sign up here! We can’t wait to see where all of this goes.
If you still are unsure about how this all works, or want to know more about our plans, be sure to check out this video outlining the entire program!

If we sign on to the bi-annual/annual plan, do we get the maps in batches bi-annually/annually, or will it by bi-monthly like a normal subscription?
They’ll arrive every 2 months. Whichever plan you go with, you’ll get your map as soon as it’s released. The only difference is that if you commit to a longer period, you get a discount.
Okay, so your example of what a storyline might be was Sky Sentinel VS Defender X and then the players fighting it out with those figures. What if the players don’t have those figures, let alone that faction? Will you create a story for each separate faction every map so players with limited collections can follow a different route?
We’re certainly all for expanding the story to encompass different faction-based plot lines simultaneously, but to start, we think it’s best to keep it simple. Keep in mind that we’ll do everything we can to make sure that things are as encompassing as possible, yet still relevant to the story in the ways that we want it to be. We know a lot of folks only collect a few factions.
That said, the best answer is to proxy in the monster if you don’t have it. If you only collect Cthul, for example, print out Defender X’s stat sheet and have it next to you, or just keep it up on a computer. Do the same for Sky Sentinel. You can then have a face off of Cthugrosh v. Yasheth…except with GUARD stats =D
Dam you guys and your really cool stuff. I mean that in the nicest way possible.
Sa-weeeeeet!!
I am all set to do my year long subscription is there any way to do it no using paypal???
Shawn,
Email me at support@teamcovenant.com and I’ll see what I can do. That goes for anyone else looking for another way to pay as well!
When you go to subscribe there should be a link to use your credit / debit card. Paypal is just who we are using to process the subscriptions. If you have any issues / questions please email support@teamcovenant.com
Very cool. I’m more excited about this game than I have been in awhile.
@ChiVenger does that mean we’re all jumping in Ben’s mini Cooper and heading to Cali in Sept?
I sent you guys an email
Maybe I missed it, but what’s the expected release date for the first map, and will there be a preview before we get a chance to order?
The next map will arrive for subscribers at the first of July. As for the preview – ROBERT, YOU DOUBT?!
Haha, but really, I’m not certain as to whether or not we’ll preview the maps. I really like the idea of everyone getting their package, opening it up, and seeing the map for the first time.
We might reveal a few squares as a teaser, but it won’t be for a few weeks. Might…
I think i am stupid or slow Steve check your email again lol
Haha, we’ll get it settled =D
if you want you can just send me the maps for free i wont complain.
Will these maps be available internationally? (If so, how much to post them to Australia?)
Are they MNM legal?
We’ll ship them anywhere in the world, certainly.
And they’re automatically MNM legal.
I just barfed a rainbow.
That’s wha’ you get for stealin’ me Lucky Charms!
You mean Batman costume, right?
More like you stealin’ my Brontox (which you probably think is a Spikodon).
So is the map from MonCon 2011 going to be released as part of this effort or does that remain a MonCon exclusive?
The map released at MonCon is a MonCon exclusive, so it won’t ever be released outside of that event.
However, there’s some tasty stuff cooked up for the first map of the Maps program. It’d be a disservice if we didn’t do something awesome for all of the early subscribers…we just wouldn’t be doing our job!
Must have!!! Damnit, there goes my lunch money…
Sounds awesome. I really appreciate the creativity you guys keep bringing to the table. I’m in!
Hey Steven, I don’t have my glasses, when do you guys start shippin these badboys out?!
The next map will ship in July!
Just signed up! Can’t wait to behold them and play with them!
Since I have an annual subscription for the map campaign and I paid in May, will I still receive 6 maps before my subscription runs out?
Yep. If you sign up for a year, you get 6 maps before it attempts to renew your subscription.
Are there plans for any specialty/premium maps, such as 4 player maps or alternate reality themes?
