MNM VI – The Schedule
By Team Covenant– November 21, 2011
Did you know that Team Covenant has not one, but over 17 different words for Monday Night Monster? It’s because there’s so much of it.
And boy howdy, is there ever. As most of you well know, this iteration of MNM is a bit different in that you get to see who you’re going to play every week for the duration of the event. This will give you the luxury of comfortably planning where and when you’re going to play! Isn’t that nice.
So here you have it, your schedule:

Is you can see, the dates are posted with each round so you’ll be able to know who to contact to get moving. If you’re having trouble finding who you’re matched up with, use our member search page.
Otherwise, best of luck to everybody and feel free to send an email to logs@teamcovenant.com if you have any questions or the like.
And remember, you have the entire week listed to complete and submit your results no later than 11:59PM of each respective Sunday. This is like taking an online class, so be sure to get your work done! :)
The Rules:
MNM VI is going to be completely different than the first five events. Here is how it’s going to work:
- Players are split into groups of 4 players, called divisions.
- Divisions are going to be based on location. Physical, in-person games are completely allowed and encouraged. If you have less than 4 players in your area (including zero), we will attempt to fill in the gaps with people close to your time zone. You can then play these people online at reasonable times.
- There are going to be 8 regular rounds of the tournament
- Each player is going to play the other 3 members in his division twice over an eight week period (making up 6 of his 8 games).
- Each player is going to play 2 games against players not in their division.
- The player with the top record in each division is going to advance to the next phase.
- Wild card players will be selected based on the number of divisions, so players without the top record in their division could advance.
- The second phase of the tournament will be a single elimination event, similar to a standard Top 8.
Players will get to choose week to week the monster and force that they use. You can bring a different list each game if you desire. Rules will be standard single monster. Players will have one week to play their games and the winner will send the result to logs@teamcovenant.com (even if there isn’t a vlog). From there, we will update the results round by round and you will see your Covenant Rating adjust as the event continues. If no email is present by the deadline, winner will be determined randomly.

So, what do the division names mean, and how did you come up with them?
Big Lebowski character. I can’t believe I’m in the “Knox Harrington” division.
Never seen it, but I’m not big on tragedies.
It’s a bigger tragedy that you haven’t seen it. Coen brothers, man!
Is there going to be a way to assure that the list brought to each game is the one the person intended to bring? If not what is to prevent me counter picking specifically for a monster/force after my opponent presents their monster and vice versa? I do prefer the freedom to play a different monster every week, but their should be a system in place to prevent a counter pick.
..besides basic human decency, of course.
I always supported they tell a third party, then when announcing forces to each other, that third party can confirm that the choice was unchanged.
I hear what you’re saying but can we not all agree as gentleman, to play under the auspices of:
Rule 0: Don’t be a dick.
Unless you’re Batman.
Wap, even in my friendly RL games we generally bring lists and place them face down or we just unpack our monsters simultaneously. We may all be gentlemen, but I think there might even be a subconscious list switch especially if one has plenty of lists prepared.
Mind you, I have no doubt everyone in my division is an upstanding person of great character, it’s just when you get into the OTHER divisions that I am concerned about capriciousness.
Chris, you’re talking about me, aren’t you….:P
I would just like some explicit clarity about the rules for picking lists. If we go by the rulebook there would be counter-picking as the default rule. Everybody should just be on the same page so that there is no confusion. Even if you pre-declare monster in some way, during setup on vassal and IRL one could still make little tweaks if one did not have a pre-printed/published/logfiled list. I don’t have a strong opinion and I’m fine with gentlemanly agreements I suppose, I’d just like to know that we’re all on the same page.
So, in a given week, are the four names listed in each box intended to be matchups so that the first name plays the second name and the third name plays the fourth player? If so, I appear to be playing Spazzfist six times.
No, that is not the case. If you look on the left, that row represents that players schedule. So your first three opponents are: Spazz, Tekk, and Joseph. Keep going right to see your full schedule. The weeks that you play that opponent are along the top.
Thanks, Zach, for the clarification. I’d scrolled over to the right too far and didn’t see the first column so that’s why I was confused (well, that and the general dumb-ness).
At least I’m not in the Mr Pink division… But really, Jackie Treehorn? How about the narrator division?
Where’s the nihilist division?
They’re off finding a toe. Somewhere in your neck of the woods, if memory serves….
Dude…this is insane. I can’t wait! What a rough bracket…
That’s right man!
NO JOKE. you got some tough matches ahead of you boy. I have BOTH grems and Luke and Marcus AND GARY. I’m in for a rough ride I tells yah…
Over the LINE!!!
You see what happens Larry?! You see what happens?!
Are you talking about little Larry Sellers?
Is this your homework Larry?
I figured, I’d just start a Lebowski quote thread
He’s flunking social studies.
I am the walrus. I am the walrus.
Koo Koo Kachoo?
You make it sound like you didn’t expect to be playing the best of LA. Is that why you had the wrong time zone originally?
Ya trying to avoid us? (;
By the way, if I’m reading this schedule right… am I playing Spazz twice?
Don’t know if we’ll be able to play those games in person, Spazz, but I look forward to facing ya (;
Actually, the only reason I entered was to be given the chance to publicly decimate your faces…
So what are the turn limit/sudden death rules, if any? Or are we going until one of us is dead?
I think they mentioned earlier that the Sudden Death rules would be like the previous MNM… I don’t remember exactly what they are, but you know, rolling dice after 24 turns or some such thing.
I’ve already played my match with Dan, and we used the “start with 5A, add one each turn, game ends on 6 strikes” method.
I’ve never gotten to play Theorist before, although we’ve talked a bit on vassal. Haven’t played Colin, either, I believe. Looking forward to this.
Do we have to play in that order, and in those weeks? Our group may knock out all our F-F games in a single day, but that day might come anywhere in the the first 4 weeks, for instance.
Playing them in order, as scheduled, is requested.
