As you may have heard from Peter (@jawaknight), Australian Nationals are in a couple of weeks, and yet somehow I am still to finalize a squad. I’m really looking forward too it, and really wondering whether anyone will dethrone jawaknight. I participated in Queensland Regionals with the following squad and went 1-3 (losing 2 games by a combined 13 points due to time and winning and losing 1 each 100-zip):
Looking back on it, I find it hard to believe it did as well as it did. It should come as no surprise that I’ve ditched that list for something completely different. I am, however, having a lot of trouble finding which one of the completely differents seems the best.
Number 1. XXXX Wedge
Simple four ship build with Wedge trying to do as much damage as possible while Biggs provides extra hull and the rookies provide extra shots. Previous loss to a TIE swarm flown by a good friend doesn’t leave me with high confidence.
Number 2. XXXX Luke
An experiment in longevity since Wedge/Biggs/Rookie/Rookie didn’t work out. I think Luke is arguably the most survivable Pilot in the game, so shoehorned him in to cover for some frailty from Number 1.
Number 3. Crash Test Dummies
I don’t think this one needs much explaining, right? Seems pretty straightforward.
Number 4. Tank it up
This came out of some ‘survivable squads discussion’ and some experimentation. I like this one the most right now, since each of the ships can survive individually as well as together. However I do think it is missing something, and I can’t put my finger on what.
These are the four lists I’m seriously contemplating. I’m really not quite sure or sold on any of them so any help would be appreciated. Additionally, if you think I’ve missed a great idea, drop me a line in the comments below and I’ll have a look.
