Iron Kingdoms Vassal Style: Week 2
By Bobb Beauchamp– May 6, 2012
Week 2 recap! We went from pure battle-box lists to BB core to 15 points. This meant a very small change from last week’s lists, with additional points ranging from 2-4 points.
Nick H (Skorne) went 3-1 in week one, and continued along those lines going 2-1 this week. He added a minimum unit of Paingiver Beasthandlers, which added damage output, fury management, AND healing to his already formidable Skorne battlebox.
Phil (Cryx) added a Necrotech and Mechanithrall, and also went 2-1 this week. The Necrotech brings the Repair special action to the table, meaning that if you don’t kill a jack, it’ll likely come back later twice a mean, a fact that my Magnus experienced. In addition, it can create Scrap Thralls out of jack wrecks, which are literally walking bombs. They aren’t hard to kill, but if you don’t use something to kill them, they can wreck or at least cripple even a heavy jack.
Bobb (Four Star Syndicate) added an Orgun Bokur to the payroll, but could only manage a 1-2-1 record. The Bokur acts as a bodyguard for a single figure, in this case Magnus. While the concept seemed nice, the lure of coin proved less powerful than the power of Deneghra’s magic in my game against Phil, and the Bokur managed to deal more damage to Magnus’ own forces than any Cryx figures.
Gary (Legion of Everblight) added a Forsaken (at least in one game, not sure if he ran it in both) to his corrupted force, going 1-2. The Forsaken managed to help with fury management, but wasn’t able to get close enough to land a fury bomb, and against a Focus force (my Magnus), would have had a hard time doing any damage anyway.
Wesley (Cryx) also added a Necrotech and Scrap Thrall, but time and real life collided, so he could only manage a single tied game at 0-0-1. With any luck, we’ll be able to see more from Wesley, either this time around or the next.
So standings after two weeks look like this:
Nick H. 19
Bobb 19
Gary 18
Phil 16
Wesley 6
Week 3 sees a return to the Killbox, with forces featuring the Battle Box figures up to 25 points. That’s going to be a significant addition for just about every list. We’re likely to see some real units this time around.

I beat Phil, so I am 1 and 2.
Oh and my forecast for week 3 is 100% chance of Blight Shroud. SPF 500 recommended.
