There are two amazing semi-final games going on this weekend. The winners of each will be representing the absolute best of their respective divisions and will go on to face each other for the championship! No, I’m not referring to the NFL Conference Championship games, I am referring to the semi-finals for Monday Night Monster VII! Both of these games will be going out live on Vassal. I encourage everyone who wants to see some amazing Monsterpocalypse games to tune in.

Game 1: The New Blood (Saturday, January 19th @ 10:00 AM Central / 11:00 AM Eastern)

Louis Brenton (Mega Voltron) vs. VolkenVaderland (Ultra Zor-Voltis) – In a cross-oceanic conflict Louis Brenton (AKA “The Sinister Minister”) will take on international man of mystery VolkenVaderland. Louis is a die-hard Voltron player and will be piloting his beloved Pentamorph against one of the best monsters, on paper, in the game. Volk is relatively new to the game but has grown & improved in leaps & bounds. This should be quite the tilt!

Game 2: The Old Guard (Saturday, January 19th @ 12:30 PM Pacific / 3:30 PM Eastern)

Scott Williams (Mega Mucustos) vs. Marcus Utley (Ultra Tyrannix) – I’ll squeeze in one last pro-wrestling reference and say that this match is like Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI. I don’t know about the rest of you guys but I feel like Jesse Ventura leading up to this event being completely indecisive as to who I think will win this match. One thing that both Scott and Marcus have in common is that they play virtually flawlessly. I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Join The Back-Channel!

Something I’d like to do for both of these games is have an environment where people can talk to each other. I will set up separate Webex sessions for each game wherein people can call in (with a telephone) or Skype in (assuming you’ve purchased Skype credit to call to an external number) and talk to one another while these awesome games are going on. Webex has a little more “oomph” to its infrastructure and can handle multiple callers much better than Skype. If you’d be interested in joining this back-channel please PM me an e-mail address to which I can send a Webex invitation.
