Game of Thrones LCG Preview and Worlds Announcement
By Zach Bunn– September 7, 2012
Looks like Fantasy Flight surprised us with two late Friday evening posts on their website earlier! One was the World Championship weekend schedule announcement and the other was a preview of The Great Fleet, the second chapter pack in the A Song of the Sea Cycle. This preview features a pretty saucy character for Lannister.

A very interesting card indeed. For four gold, we get:
- Unique character
- Two icons (one with naval enhancement)
- A potentially good response
- Noble Crest
Assuming the response can be used in any decent way, I think we have ourselves a good character here! I’m personally not a Lannister player, BUT I can already picture a few ways to make use of this. For starters, the response does get you two gold. Gold usually isn’t a problem for a Lannister, but nonetheless he is a gold providing card.
More interesting is the capacity to get gold before you marshal. Lannister has a fair number of shadows cards and now has a way to get more than one out before challenges (at least those that cost gold). What other cards can abuse this? Any Lannister players out there with thoughts on this guy?

Wow, I’m really looking forward to this guy. And the Arbor Queen! That’s a great effect for such a low cost. I’m glad these normally 2 cost unique locations are getting the 1 treatment now. I think it’s a good model for FFG to follow as we go into the next cycle.
I think he is a solid, interesting, balanced character. He doesn’t scream AutoInclude, but the ability to get some extra gold and the challenge enhancement is nice. Not to mention the Noble crest…..
I’m really looking forward to the next cycle. I think it will add some good diversity and it seems to be pretty balanced so far.
