After a long history of frustrating experiences with local and online tabletop gaming stores, Zach launched our website, covenanttcg.com, on January 1st, 2007. It was an eBay Pro Store stocked with The Spoils TCG singles, all pulled from full price booster boxes. Within a day, our first order arrived! Zach dropped that first order off at the local post office, and the rest, as they say, is our history.
Zach headed home from college later that year, and set up shop in the back of his dad’s office in Chelsea, Oklahoma. He was soon joined by his brother, Timothy. Zach reached out to long-time friend, writer, and card game teammate, Steven, to see if he was interested in playing The Spoils. When Steven showed up to the office, he was asking as many questions about Covenant as he was the game. Soon, he was taking over management of the blog we’d launched at what is now our primary domain, teamcovenant.com.
After spending the summer iterating through different versions of the website, writing blogs, and shipping orders, our first year culminated in achieving the long-held dream of attending Gen Con - the largest tabletop convention in the US. This was the first time we saw the tabletop gaming industry in its entirety, roaming the convention hall between The Spoils tournaments and cheap meals. It made an impact.
